hey there, I have a friend coming from Canada (arriving at Heathrow) at 1:00am in 2 weeks time. I want to be there to pick her up, and then to take her into London. If her flight was during the day, I would just get the tube in, and then take her into london on the tube, however, as the flight arrives at 1am, I am not sure how I can get there and back (as the tube will stop running, i assume).
thanks!

The Night Bus number 9 (N9) will take you direct from Heathrow to Central London after hours.
The service runs every 20 minutes, with a journey time of about an hour, and a single fare will cost £1.50.
Here's the timetable if you decide on this option.

Use the Transport for London journey planner (visit the website) for the definitive answer. Meanwhile I would get the H1 bus from the central bus station to Brentford Railway Station and then a train into Waterloo.

I took a regular train once from Heathrow to London. It was a little after mid-night. But I tell you the train at that time can be a somewhat dangerous.
Better hire a cab.
also try this site for info

The Heathrow express train service runs quite late and goes to Paddington, there are several National express coaches that go into central London via heathrow and are cheaper and safer than taxi's or night buses. go to www.nationalexpress.com or try www.gobycoach.com, you will also get info on the heathrow express train services from there as it is operated by national express too...

There's probably a night bus to take you to and from Heathrow. Visit the TfL website http:/www.tfl.gov.uk/ but your best bet may to book a cab.

If you do not want the night bus, yes, you can take a taxi. BUT I would also suggest that you ask for quotes from a couple of licensed private hire (minicab) firms

You should try to take the shuttle bus at Heathrow's central bus station. You pay £8.00 and it is return. Its quite cheap.

order a mini cab. try www.yell.co.uk. mini cabs usually have a fixed price from Heathrow to London. order from a minicab company that's based in your area.
