I think you might be looking for some kind of deep meaningful answer to this. However, the reason we cry emotional tears (as opposed to reflex tears) is it's a form of emotional processing. Most women (and maybe men) are familiar with the idea of 'having a good cry'. When distressing thoughts or memories cause a build up of emotion we start to cry. The crying tends to build up to a peak then tails off leaving the weeper feeling calmer. The act of crying releases hormones which help to release stress and relax. In this way the body reduces the impact of the build up of emotion and enables the person to deal with it.
As women are more emotional (on average) than men, that is why women tend to cry more - as a way of handling emotions and getting them into perspective.

Love is the answer to everything. All you ever need is love,
communication and understanding. That's what I figured out so
far. If you are down, you need to get up and start doing something with
your life. Don't need to be shy, be straight forward and allways say what
you want and expect from the others.

Physiological response to pain. It actually releases stress and pain. It causes hormonal responses that are protective and soothing.

haha - i love how you've put this in singles and dating.
I suspect it's probably because it helps your body 'mark the moment', attribute something specific and physical to the emotions you are feeling so it is easier to avoid such a situation again.

Weeping lets the boo-hoo's out - very good for you! Bottling up emotions can make you stressed and unwell.

Hope you feel better soon.
