You can drink too much water...an 18 yr old died as the result of a college hazing at Plattsburgh, NY where he was forced to drink water and his brain swelled and he died and since then I've read about this a couple of times. I've also read recently where that 8 glasses a day bullcrap is probably too much, I'm 42 years old, look to be in my early 30's, am healthy and I drink maybe 4-5 glasses of water a day unless I'm working harder than usual, working out or hiking then I drink more. If you're thirsty, drink!

Health experts say to drink at least 8 glasses a day. But I don't know anyone who does that. I know some people who just drink coffee and Diet Pepsi and they're still all right. Water IS the best thing to drink, though, because it doesn't have sugar or fat or anything like that in it.

About 8 cups a day. There is probably 8 oz of water in a cup so 64 oz if u want a harder way to say it. But I try to drink on and on throughout the day. It sure takes alot to drink the full 8 every day!

Drink at least 8 - 8oz glasses! It's great to help you lose weight, clear up your skin, and flush out toxins. But if your tap water is anything like mine (really nasty) I recommend getting a filter pitcher. It is so much cheaper than buying bottled water all the time! Try a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime juice in it if you are not a fan of water.

You should drink at least a few glasses of water each day. It is much better for you than the chemicals and sugar in soft drinks, coffee or alcoholic beverages. It is a natural and purifying way to hydrate your body. Many ailments...from headaches to heartburn, can be attributed to not having enough water intake.

Yes. It is good for you. You should drink water when ever you feel thirsty. Some people say that you should drink 8 glasses of 8 ounces each day. But everyone is differently active and everyone is just...different. So just drink water whenever you feel thirsty. Oh and btw if your urine is yellow you know you arent drinking enough water. (your urine should be clear)

Staying "Well-Watered" Good
for Skin, Health
Is bottled water, like Evian Natural Spring Water, the next skincare product you'll need? Maybe it should be.
Getting plenty of water is key to skin health and beauty, say skin and fitness experts. So much so that, in many ways, water is the original beauty product. It's also important to overall health.
"If you are severely dehydrated, your skin is not going to have that healthy, dewy glow," says Jan Marini, president of Jan Marini Skin Research in San Jose, California. Dehydration can lead to flaking skin and wrinkles.
Drs. Katie Rodan and Kathy Fields, creators of Rodan + Fields Skincare, concur. "Drinking plenty of water is good for the skin."
Indeed, for staying hydrated, water--good old H2O--is what does the job. Alcoholic drinks and those high in caffeine can actually take moisture from the body, not add it. Many of them also add calories. Thus, thirst should be quenched with water or other non-caloric beverages, such as unsweetened herbal, non-caffeinated tea.
The suggested daily water intake is 2 to 3 pints. This amount is in addition to the 2 pints of water typically obtained from your daily food intake. Fruits and vegetables, milk, yogurt, and fresh cheeses are particularly rich in water, while chocolate, butter, cookies, and other foods contain very little water. Oils contain no water at all.
So staying hydrated can take some effort. Increasingly, people find that carrying bottled water is a quick, convenient way to keep their water intake up. This can be especially important if you're on the go, exercising, or watching your weight.
Water and exercise
Exercise can bring a glow to your skin and is good for overall health. But having an active lifestyle requires keeping a close eye on your water intake.
"A lot of people come to workout without having had enough water beforehand. You need to drink water ahead of the thirst situation," says Geralyn Coopersmith, MA, CSCS, Manager and Senior Faculty, Equinox Fitness Training Institute (EFTI) in New York.
"By the time you feel thirsty, you're probably already a little dehydrated," adds Coopersmith.
And that's not good for your skin.
How hydration works
Drawing from your body's plasma, the skin contains considerable water reserve (approximately 15 to 18 pounds). This water attaches to macromolecules in the skin that retain water like a sponge.
A natural emulsion comprised of water and lipids prevents the skin from losing water and dehydrating.
However, "with sun exposure and age," points out Marini, "we produce less of the substances needed to aid the skin's ability to retain water. Our skin's ability to provide an excellent barrier is diminished" over time.
Drinking plenty of fluids-hydrating from the inside out-therefore remains important as we age.
And, say Rodan and Fields, "the external humidity is also vital to determining how hydrated your skin appears."
Their advice? "Combine lots of water with a great moisturizer."
