there is. but i have no idea what it is called. My mom has one && I asked her and she dosent know either. Lol sorry

I think you mean the French Fry Cutter. It's a gadget where you insert the potato, press down with the blade and it comes out into chips. It is still very much around and you can buy it on Amazon. There is a picture of it below .

Buy what is called a Mandolin. You will get great potato chip slices with this although a good one is not too cheap, approx. $100.00.

there many styles of small home slicers slice them real thin deep fry and sprinkle with Lowery's season salt. Bet you can't eat just one
