I am not going to elaborate, but I DESPISE people who inflict harm onto children. I am trying to lead a christian, spiritual life ~ but, this is the one part that is very difficult for me! I understand that I am suppose to PRAY for ALL people; but, in this case, I wish nothing but BAD things to them. Is this wrong?

I struggle with this myself. It is hard because we are human and naturally we want to hate and despise those who inflict harm to babies and children. The only thing I do in those cases is pray that God show the abusers His wisdom in what they are doing is wrong by His laws and the laws of man.

I am the same way. I despise anyone who hurts children or old people, the best thing that you can do is just pray that the children come out of it ok and that the people who hurt children will come to their senses and stop. God Bless you.

Adjust the prayer slightly, and start praying good things for their children instead. You should have no problem praying for the children. Then, in order for the children to blessed, the parents have to stop abusing them. So you then pray for the parents to STOP the abuse. Beyond that, you have no other obligation to pray for the parents.

Paul, writing to the Corinthian church, mentioned a man who was living in sin and still attending the church meeting. Paul said that we was going to turn that person over to satan for the destruction of his body in order that his spirit might be saved. (See 1 Corinthians 5:1-5). My understanding of this scripture is that when someone is living in sin - such as abusing their children - you should be praying that they pay the consequences of their sin in the hope it will open their eyes and turn them to God. So in a sense wanting "bad things" to happen to them is correct. You want them to feel the consequences of their actions. But your motivation is that it will turn them around - if not for their sake then their children's.

Yeah, it is wrong because they are very sick.... If you can believe that someone can be mentally healthy and do this, then I could understand how you could have a hard time praying. I hate their actions, but I have to pray for everyone. I even pray for Osama because of how evil his actions are. People like this are very sick and as such deserve prayer.

Your (alleged) saviour said judge not lest ye be judged so you shouldn't be praying for others with conditions attached. Does the bad person suffer because you despise them-no, but you suffer because despising people is negative and negativity hurts you.

We all have people or groups of people that we despise, but unfortunately that is not good enough for God. We are told to love the sinner but hate the sin. It takes a lifetime to separate the two. But perhaps if you pray for that persons conversion through God`s intervention, and a healing of your heart...WWJD...he hung out with prostitutes, tax collectors, and low lifes...and He prayed for them...I despise abortionists....as a human if something horrible happened to them i wouldn`t care, as a christian i pray for their conversion. I found this by reading the autobiograpgy of the man who in conjunction with planned parenthood started abortions..I read about his conversion from a Jewish man to a christian, and his support of abortion to his dispisement of it(due to ultrasound technology). His enlightenment by God about his behaviors was an example of pray for the sinner stay firm about the sin. And above all else be humble since we are all sinners. Also read about St Paul(Saul) who killed and persecuted christians...then became one by God opening up his eyes.He was innitially despised by the early christians...but then was prayed for by them.

There is nothing wrong with disliking people who are bad, but I think that even though you think that even if they are wrong or bad, you should have more of a forgiving heart to say although I don't agree with them I want this person to get better.

Even murderers on death row share your feelings. That's only natural. People who harm children are the lowest forms of life.
