I hope they don't get amnesty. Hypothetically speaking, "If" they were to, they would stick together, have large families, keep sucking up our taxpaid assistance programs, we would continue to have high taxes to pay for those who would still be on welfare. They would then have the vote. When their children, from those large families, became of age, they would vote. They would eventually become the majority and would vote in Spanish political figures.
Eventually they would vote in a Spanish/Latino President and 'Voila", The United States of Mexico is born. WE will be learning SPANISH!
They haven't even got amnesty, yet, and it is already happening in California (Amexi-fornia), moving into Arizona and New Mexico, Texas is struggling.

You are so right. Beside all that they are going to bring their families and the numbers will triplicate and the majority of them will go on welfare, food stamps and medicaid and do you know what's going to happened to our economy, well it will not get better that's for sure. Amnesty is only good for the illegals, the Mexican government and the big corporations that hired them. Wake up America before is too late. In November vote against all these leader that are defending amnesty, no matter which party they belong to. Illegal aliens they don't come here to assimilate, they come here to make money and send it back to their country and that's a good deal for their government..not our economy.

I don't think many of the immigrants today want to assimilate. It's not like in the past where immigrants came to contribute. Nowadays, it's all about "give me."
And for a previous asker who said "Why should we all have to be the same ? " Assimilation is not about being the same. My paternal grandparents came from Italy. What was the first(and only) language in my father's house when he grew up ? It wasn't Italian, it was English. Even as a third generation Italian-American, we still appreciated Italian culture (and cuisine) but we are Americans first.
And if American were go to war with Italy(hypothetically), I would not be like Muslims in America who secretly hope the enemy wins.

If we gave amnesty to all the illegal immigrants in this country we would go bankrupt. They won't earn enough to pay taxes...in fact they will be elligible for the earned income tax credit (refund). And that's not even taking into account the burden on our healthcare and social service systems.
