I would pack for 40's @ night, 60's in the day, one rainy day, and 2 'shorts and t-shirt' days. And one THICK fleece. B/C it'll be sunny and 65 for 5 days, and Rainy and 40 the next!

It can get pretty cold in the mornings, but by noon it usually gets into the 50's and 60's in November. Depending on where you are coming from, you might want to pack a combination of early winter type clothing and kinda fall-spring type clothing. Most people (myself excluded) won't find the weather shortsable, but short sleeves are usually okay if you aren't hanging out outdoors. I'd pack short sleeves and jeans and a light jacket. They tend to keep the heat on a bit high down here the minute it gets cold, so the short sleeves/jacket combo is rarely a bad idea.

Birmingham and Atlanta are usually really nice around November, the rainfall is just starting back up after an absense of a few months, but it isn't a soaking season either. Sky is usually pretty clear.

Take note that US-78 from Birmingham to Memphis is now the half-completed I-22, and can be difficult to follow at times. Pay close attention if you go that way. The road into Selma can make you feel like you are driving into a ghosttown with all the abandoned gas-stations and motels. This is very typical of Alabama US highways, don't let it concern you.
