Where can i find programs that work with Ubuntu?

I need to know what types of programs that ubuntu uses. For example: windows uses .exe. And i also want to know where i can find them

you can find most program to use on the Applications > Add / Remove

Of course there might be other softwares that isn't available on the internal add software, in this case, you'll need to find a program that is compiled for Linux, usually the installer is marked by having extension .rpm
