Mexican immigrants are being allowed to enter this country to be slaves of big buisness? Pro illegal immigrants that support this exploitation are actually the guilty party? The Chineese slaves have yet to fully assimilate. Been to" little China"? How many Chineese were used as rail builders in comparison to the millions of invaders illegally entering this country on their own free will. I don't remember reading about African immigrants illegally boating to America to become slaves. They were forced here against their will and the decendants of those slaves are American as the next. It's a fact that Mexicans are here at a negative cost to this country, and a profit for individuals with selfish motives.

The only slaves in this country are the ones that were brought here against their will or were bonded servants. The Illegals that are here today have the choice to leave as does anyone else does today for that matter. Deport all illegals.

Yes, American has been guilty of slavery all throught out history and yes it is an issue. How long did it take Africian Americans to obtain any rights? How many Americans fought against any rights, how many people were killed for these rights? There is still slavery in this country, there are people (citizens) who still have not become fully accepted citizens because of where they come from or the color of their skin. The big difference between the Mexicans and the Africian Americans is the Africans did not come here by choice, as the Mexicans have chosen to do.

Are we not all slaves to something? How many of us get and every morning and go to work just because we don’t want to sleep? How many of us really want to pay taxes knowing full well once the money if deducted from our checks, we have no control on how it is spent? I agree with Newt, it was a way of life long before the US. To a degree it is still a way of life we inflict upon ourselves with the choices we make.

Slavery did exist in Africa but the big difference is that it was NOT permanent. Slavery was a way to repay a debt, etc., and never implied being taken away forever.

The slavery trade started with the Spaniards in the late 1400s. Slaves were presented to royalty as presents.

And dear, the human race evolved in Africa. If we live in America, it makes us *all* African-Americans

To me slavery is being taken and kept against your will. These people came here VOLUNTARILY and no ones holding a gun to there to do this or take the jobs they take. The real Slavery these days are the children that forced into the sex trades "human trafficking"

That's true, cheap labor=lower production costs, and it doesn't hurt a thing to have people stop and realize that some of our produce comes from a model that we thought we abolished along with slavery.

What we need to figure out is how to apply 21st century technology effectively and economically to a job that dates back to the B.C., growing food. I fail to believe that there's not 'a better way' to do your planting, weeding, fertilizing, watering, and harvesting besides having 1000's of people out there giving themselves a chronic back injury for life. That's the way it's always been done, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it's the best way to keep on doing the same old job.

Yes, they should all stay in their own country. For the record slavery has been going on for thousands of years before America was discovered. Slavery is still going on in many countries.

Mexican who come here illegally do so because they want to. If they don't like the conditions here, they should go back. Our government will happily provide transportation back to Mexico.

The cost is to the taxpayer and the paying healthcare consumer.

I agree that big business is exploiting these people, but so is big politics.

Why do we even have a minnimum wage if our government chooses to subvert it with illegal workers?
