While some States have no laws governing the carrying of firearms, most have some laws for local citizens. Generally, firearm carry permits are just that, the legal power to carry a firearm and is normally considered to cover concealed carrying of firearms.

There are federal carry permits which cover all States but these are generally limited to governmental officials such as members of the FBI and ATF, and selected police officials.

it depends on the state that you live in...laws are different. Also, you can register for a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
34 states allow you to carry with a license, 11 states allow but do not require a license, 2 states do not require a license (Alaska & Vermont) and 3 states do not allow concealed weopons at all(Wisconson, Illinois and Nebraska) .

Yes it is. Many state now allow people who are eligible for a concealed handgun permit to be armed with such a weapon, after they take a training course and fulfill all the requirements.
