We have an american chocolate lab who is five years old. He goes crasy when there are one or more flies around him. How can we fix this strange additude?

He has probably been bitten by a horsefly at some stage.

Get some fly repellent from your vet/petshop,

That is funny. My cat, which is my picture, is also scared of flies. She is exclusively an indoor cat and is around 7 1/2 years old. She will catch things that get in our house like butterflies, moths, and birds (she caught one that got into our house but we got it from her and set it free) but is scared of flies. If there is a fly in the house, she will hide until she knows for sure it is gone. She will run from room to room and take cover. It is actually quite funny. I don't know what it is about flies that she doesn't like. The buzzing might freak her out or the fly may just be bothering her. I really don't think there is anything you can do to "fix" your lab's fear of flies. Just think of it as a quirk that makes him who he is and find the humour in the situation.

Labs are the best dogs...they are so funny and peculiar. they are scared of the stupidest things and lord knows why! just something to deal with!! Mine is afraid of lizards...we live in FL, and we have lizards from one end of the house (outside of course) to the other and he runs from them all the time!

How crazy? My dog snaps at flies trying to catch them. This isn't crazy but normal.

Is he scared or just annoyed???
I suggest consulting an animal behaviorist. Talk yo your vet, they have probably seen much stranger things.
