You are talking about apples and oranges here.... Some States use different terminology to describe the levels of offenses.
In Illinois,
Class 4 Felony is 1-3 yrs
Class 3 =2-5yrs
Class 2 = 3-7yrs
Class 1 = 4-15yrs
Class X = 6-30yrs
1st Degree Murder = 20-30 yrs.

Other states may use A, B, C, D to describe the seriousness of the crime.
D may be the least serious, or the most serious depending how they assign the letters.

the amount of time given depends on the class of the feloNY,but understand this in ny and some other states 3 felonies and your out you would spend the rest of you life in jail that would be what the DA office would go for

class 4 is pretty bad... as well as a class D... the farther the rank in the # or alphabet, the worse it gets... a class A would be the basic charge you might get for something minimal... but then you are lookin at a FELONY!! that in itslef is bad enough... try to get it pushed down to a misdemeanor and you should be a little lighter on jail/ prison time!
