A good Veterinarian-client relationship is essential to pet care. If you don't trust this vet, ask around and find another one. IF the CBC and urine tests came back within normal values, you can't fault the vet. Did they explain what each value meant, did they explain other possible problems, other suggestions, etc.? He could have some sort of kidney problem, try specifically asking to have this kidneys checked out. If not by your current vet, by a new one.

When my Lab was younger I had a huge problem with that, and spent close to $2,000 in tests. One vet told me it could be kidney and then another vet told me it was some hormonal imbalance that was telling him he was constantly thirsty. Not one one of the expensive test showed anything. At 7 months I had him neutered and it seems to greatly help the problem. I do not know if it help settle out the hormonal imbalance or what, but he is now 18 months and drinks I would say a normal amount of water. They also tested him for Diabetes which he was clear of. So if it is not your dog's kidney or diabetes I would say it is okay. The one vet told me after giving him $1,200 that I had a quirky dog.

Do not take his water away. Yes dogs do get diabetes and excess water intake is a very good symptom. It can be a number of things that are just as serious so take him to another vet you can be comfortable with. It is not normal at all

It could be diabetes or kidney troubles, they would show up on tests. It could also be cancer and that wouldn't necessarily show up on tests. Massive water intake is very common in dogs with cancer.
You should always be able to trust your Vet, if you don't then you should find a new one.

Did the vet test for diabetes? I don't know if dogs can get it, but that is what it sounds like.
