would you ever brush off a compliment (about being beautiful, sexy, or altogether great) from a guy that you actually really like? Why? Isn't that what you want?

We're complicated lol
Erm, i suppose the main reason for doing this is cos we're not sure whether the guy really likes us. If we take the compliment too readily, its almost getting our hopes up kind of thing.
Also it depends whether it was in front of people or not. If its in front of loads of people, the girl in question is very aware of what they are thinking - accepting a compliment is almost equivalent to declaring your interest for a guy, and a girl may not want to look cocky. by brushing over the compliment, she thinks that she looks humble and basically less into herself (i know, im writing this and thinking it makes no sense but its different when you're put into the situation!)
and finally, most likely cause we're just plain shy and when a guy that we like compliments us we're so chuffed that he thinks that that we cant quite bring ourselves to think its true and so we put in the defence mechanism of laughing it off
and for what its worth, we feel bad/stupid afterwards, we just freeze up at the time!!!!

It's true. Girls are very complicated. Especially me though, lol. The only compliments I get are from my hubby or from a guy who really wants me to cheat on my hubby on the internet. So I don't know much about that. But I do agree that some girls may not even know how to respond. Then again, some girls are just plain weird or they feel very sorry for themselves all the time & try to make everyone else too. Hope you find the answers you're looking for.

girls are complicated. maybe it wasn't "brushed off", maybe it was a little embarassing, meant alot to her, and she didn't really know how to respond. we freeze up sometimes, too.
