You can all believe what you want, but I must say that this idea of Christians that God was not able to forgive their sins without the death of Jesus is quite strange. I found this Bible verse in the context of this theology of "atonement of human sins by the death of Jesus":

"In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." (Hebrews 9:22)

Christianity is the only present religion with this concept. Still Christians often speak as if they imagined God the most loving and forgiving and this made them better than other religions. Why?

@ whynotaskdon: in Judaism and Islam there is no such sacrifice not because they believe God doesn't love them enough for this, but because they believe that it is simply not necessary because he can forgive sins without bloodshed

@ silent_paws: I know that Jews used to sacrifice animals at that time, but they left the idea that blood can be used for atonement of sins and replaced animal sacrifice by prayers.

Most Christians do not believe Christianity better than the other religions. If they do, they are NOT GOOD Christians as the Bible preaches unity and acceptance.

My grade 11 religion teacher put it this way, and it made sense to me:

There are 20 people surrounding a mountain and everyone has the same goal - to reach the top. Not everyone climbs the mountain the same way though.Everyone takes the path that is right for them, but it doesn;t matter as they all reach the same goal: the top. Religion is like that. Christians are SUPPOSED to believe that it doesn't matter what path you take to the top (god/salvation/enlightenment etc.) everyone has the same destination regardless of the path they take. Therefore ALL religions should be accepted.

Note: Any Christians who disagree are not true Christians.

FAQ: What books are in the Word and what are apocrypha?

"The books of the Word are all those which have the internal sense; but those books which have not the internal sense, are not the Word. The books of the Word, in the Old Testament, are the five Books of Moses, the Book of Joshua, the Book of Judges, the two Books of Samuel, the two Books of Kings, the Psalms of David, the Prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi: and in the New Testament, the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John; and the Apocalypse. The rest have not the internal sense" (Arcana Coelestia n. 10325 or Heavenly Doctrine n. 266).

I agree with you.
Basically, we all have to understand that sin is supposed to be a transgression against human beings.
Think about this: How would we really know the specifics of God's feelings? I believe it is impossible to hurt the feelings or the ego of a supreme being, especially since we humans can't comprehend God in the first place.
Sins are things we "should" feel bad about for reasons of unknown origin. Morality? Ethics? Is all of this arbitrary? I don't know.
Forgiveness is the acceptance by those whom we've "wronged," once we've admitted our transgression to the "wronged person."
What's blood got to do with it?

The blood you refer to is the blood of Christ, and Paul was quoting the Taurah to show why Christ had to die. In the Jewish faith the atonement for sin was a spotless lamb, and each year all Jewish families had to sacrifice one in order to have their sins clensed.

Jesus is called the lamb of God because he is the spotless (i.e. sinless) one who was sent to atone for all mankind. God is loving and gracious because he gave his only son in order for mankind to be saved - so anyone who believes in Jesus's sacrifice will be saved. It also swept away the old mosaic law because animal sacrifice was now pointless.

I think I know what your trying to say.

Why does there need to be bloodshed for the forgivness of sins? For, that doesn't seem loving.

MY ANSWER:
Blood signifies life. We only have life in this body if we have blood flowing. To spill or shed this blood takes away life (in the physical realm) but infuses life in the spiritual if done according to God's precepts.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16. God loves us so much that He was willing to give His only begotten son that we may have another chance to make the correct decision. Adam and Eve made the wrong decision, there by condemning us all to perish in the second death.
