I am an atheist, I believe in science and evolution. I don't believe in the bible and or its ancient stories. I however have been exposed to church and Christian beliefs as a child and adult, I understand how the whole story of creation and god is written. I also understand that the bible is a rule book or guide book for morale living. I hate the assumption that all atheists are bad people, I am a good person. I have good healthy morals and I will help anyone when they are down, I love to learn and teach others. I respect what others believe, I try not to offend anyone in there views.

I honestly can’t fathom how someone can go to a zoo and look a Chimpanzee in the face and say their nothing like us. How can a true creationist say that the DNA test are wrong and that Chimps are nothing like us, and were nothing like them. Or not even go to a zoo looking at a picture of the chimpanzee. The problem is that people don’t understand evolution, or how its works. All they know is that it contradicts the beliefs they were taught, therefore they dismiss it all together.

I will say that science does not answer all the questions that we humans put forward. However, humans are still a very primitive species; we have only harnessed the power of the atom. We have yet to explore and harness the power of the oceans, and our weather systems, or the sun. Science is in its infancy, it will answer more questions then the bible will ever answer.

Can religion in some way be blamed for the destruction we are doing to this planet. Can religion be blamed for the fact we think of ourselves as the supreme one and only true beings on this planet. I’m an atheist, and I’ll be one till the day I die, but here is something to think about. If there is a god, why is he tolerating the fact we are polluting the air he gave us to breath and the water he gave us to drink. We kill his beautiful animals without reason or remorse. We kill each other without remorse or reason. If you study chimpanzee society you will find that it is allot like our own. They wage war, and kill each other for no apparent reason. Chimpanzees also have forms of culture, and make use of tools. Humans are the only animals that are ashamed to be called an animal. We are no different than any other ape, only are sophisticated ways of communication and our extraordinary thinking abilities and our brain power make us different, that 1% difference.

Good question. Well worded. I do not know how ppl can look into the eyes of the higher primates without a feeling of connection. I happened to be in Denver and went to the zoo on new years. The orangutans were in a tiny concrete room with a few ropes and small windows (no doubt their winter habitat). A big male was close to the window....as I looked into his eyes I began to weep...uncontrollably. My husband is used to my empathic reactions and my rage. I couldn't get it back together....so we left. His eyes will forever be with me. It started me on yet another "journey" working for animal rights as a volunteer. As I look at the little face of "Selam" I can't help but feel a connection to her and wonder about her short little life. How was it for her 3.3 million yrs ago....undoubtedly better as we were not around to put her...our ancestor...in a cage.

I could go on and on, as you have hit on a topic that touches me very deeply. I do not know how ppl can't see the truth in front of them. Maybe the bars on the cages help them to feel superior. The bible tells them that they are superior and to have "dominion" over the animals and the earth. Maybe that is why they can rape the natural world without a single prick of conscience.

I think people turn to mythology and religion as a means of filling in the gaps that science, to date, is unable to fill or answer. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Mythology and the allegory held within the mythological tale, has much to offer. It enables us to touch that part of ourselves that cannot be broken down to the basic cellular or atomic level. It helps to answer the question, "What animates us," along with, "What is our purpose and why are we here?"

The problem with religion and most mythological constructs is not with the source material. It is with the human reaction to the source material. The minute someone takes one of these stories and gives it the legitimacy of absolute truth, THEN you have major problems and obstacles to hurdle. Some are completely insurmountable due to the inability of the person to see beyond their belief. Yet if they take a moment and actually USE the creativity they have, it is easy to take the value of the myth as is, and include the continued scientific pursuit of truth along with the continued philosophical pursuit of truth. Example?

According to the creation myth written about in Genesis, god created the earth in six days. But given the fact that the sun and the universe as a whole was not in place, who is to say just how long a biblical Genesis day was? Could that first day have been millions of years? In short, there is room for both science and myth if we could all get past this notion of absolute truth.

There is beauty and truth in both. Denying one for the other is limiting and counterproductive to us all.

Lasting religions are constructed round a center of reality that folks have found out otherwise it might now not final. But in each faith there are guy-made principles that can or is probably not actual. These "extras" are mostly further considering the fact that of religion. When you feel of what religion is you are going to discover that nearly it's believe. I have certainly not been to the moon, however I believe what individuals who had been there have mentioned approximately it. I place confidence in their skills approximately the moon and might feel it despite the fact that they mentioned whatever weird like "We located an underground flow at the moon." That is the equal with religion because it applies to faith. For the Christian his religion is in Christ and we believe what He mentioned was once the reality... even if He mentioned matters that had been weird that we to at the moment can nonetheless now not work out... like 3 humans of 1 God. Christians feel it although nobody... now not even the Pope .... can safely provide an explanation for it in human phrases. So notion then is as it's outlined.... the popularity as actual of whatever which can't be tested considering the fact that of the religion now we have in the one that instructed us.

Science goes forward and continues to ask and answer questions. Christianity is stuck 2,000 years ago thinking they already have all the answers. Why they use computers is a bit of a conundrum.

Science is good if it's convenient. If they don't see any DIRECT application for it, or it contradicts old unproven beliefs, it's the work of the devil.

BIBLE stands for Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. you may not believe in GOD which is your right and personally thank you for respecting the free will of us who believe as we respect your free will not to. however feel as though GOD is like the wind in a sense. no mortal has ever seen the wind only the effects yet everyone knows the wind exists. all I have to do is look at the sky and the earth seeing their glories thus realizing GOD exists whether I personally see HIM or not.

If you can ask Christians to "prove" the Bible, we can ask you to "prove" that you are a good person without acknowledging the Lord and His 30 year life example of peace and healing. However, I'm positive you can't prove your goodness as Christians cannot prove their goodness. Any good act can be done from selfishness and to appear good before the world.
