I think that you may be confusing the sun-day with the Sabbath of the Bible. Gen 2:1-3; Ex 20:8-11; Mark 2:27,28; Rev 12:17; 14:12.

Used to be that extra food would be cooked on Saturday and left in the fire to eat Sunday, so no cooking would have to be done.
