It is used to read PDF(Portable Document Format) type documents.
It is only Adobe Acrobat Reader that recognizes this format. Infact, the Adobe people had created the PDF format.
The PDF format is a very nice format. it can integrate audio, video and provide a good level of interactivity. It is very popular on the Internet. So, go grab the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader !!!

The Adobe Acrobat reader allows you to read PDF files, which are basically almost the same as html webpages, but have a format similar to having individual pages to them.

Sure can ;)
Adobe Acrobat Reader is used to read certain documents on the internet, or certian files that someone sends to you.
You need javascript to use it though, and you MUST have your Active X Controls Allowed!
[You can adjust those settings in your Internet Settings]
You don't use Acrobat Reader by itself...so you have to read a file with it.
I'm sure you'll get something that you have to use it with! I use it constantly.
Good Luck!

I find it very useful, as I export my documents and books from Adobe Indesign and sometimes from Microsoft Word to send to my clients, the PDF file format allows you to embed fonts into the document and saves the entire thing as an image that would look exactly the same way you created it, in spite of software version variation, and font availability at the receiving end.
It also has a relatively smaller size for easier online transfer.
