I NEED TO OPEN THIS FILE, BECAUSE MY FRIEND HACKED INTO MY COMPUTER AND COMPRESSED IT AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO UNCOMPRESS IT. Plus to make it worse, it is my junior high final to pass the school year.

try winace, winrar or poweriso, they shuld do it.......

TAR files are compressed ones that are UNIX main extension for zipped files and folders.
But if you are using windows,you have to install a third-party software like WinRAR to open them.

.tar files are Unix tape archives. Probably your ZIP decompressor can cope with them. Failing that, you should be able to get GNU tar from the Free Software Foundation to untar it.

To open compressed files (zip rar jar iso 7z cab uue gz....) you have to use WinRar. With WinRar you can easily decompress files and folders.

Try a software called winrar if you're are on windows. You should be able to download a 30 day trial version from here:

if it is compressed you need to know what typ of compression he used if not open a folder and click tools/folder options, click view and and un mark hide extentions for known file types, click ok and go to the file, remove the new format and place the old format, mark hide extentions for known file types.
