Who's Ravan?
Must be pretty bad at his job if he gets fired every year.

Ravan was a best Pandit, he was a brilliant n wiseman so he is worship. but we fire the moddel of Ravan every year
becoz according our concept Ramayana, Lord Ram had kiiled Ravan on Dashara. To Kill Ravana ,Ram had worshiped Devi Durga.receiving the bless of Durga ram was able to kill Ravan on this day. to remember this n make sprit in human's heart we fire Ravan every year

Because he is considered to be the form of eviil.but many religions regard him highly.according to the jain religion ravan got a place in heaven.

It is a symbolic reminder that evil is to be destroyed or the destruction of the eveil is to be rejoiced .evei does not exactly means the physical eveil alone or exclusively any physical person . It is eveil thoughts in mind , that is to be destroyed by the fire of knowledge .

It is not to recollect him and kill him because he was rama's enemy but to ring out the basic cruel behaviour and thoughts in ourselves that resemble ravana.
It is to make sure we are not on his track but on Rama's track to follow goodness and godliness....
We think he is our god's enemy and fire him. After the firing programme there would be a boozing session anyway..
This is never recognised by most of the people. Pity them...!!!

its because on this particular day he was killed by LORD RAMA and got back to his kingdom in AYODHYA...so every year we celebrate this RAVANA KASHTAM
