Legitimate question Jim.
Sacred Scripture comes in many different version, yes. However, all versions simply differ in regards to complexity. Some are easier to read then others. For example, new Christians would probably have a hard time understanding the King James Version because of the old English style writing. They may want to use the New Living Translation, a version which is easier to understand and makes the same points.
Although scripture may differ according to certain individual words or phrases the ultimate message it's trying to get across remains the same.

Different versions say the same thing, just are put in an easier way for people to understand..For instance the King James Version, very well written but uses a lot of thous, the's. Ye's and the contemperory English Version is just plain english. Being an atheist I am surprise you ask this, but glad..you should read some of the Bible some time. Let go and Let GOD.
Have some faith.
Christ is the only way to have eternal life.

i think that there are different versions of the bible because each group wan'ts to enhance thier view in a certains way with subtle differences. you know, you don't have to believe in the bible to take a leap of faith. the Bible wasn't even in existence yet and many people embraced the teachings of Jesus. I wonder at times if the Bible hasn't made things more difficult, it certainly takes the realm oh faith from the a more gut feeling to an intellectual debate and i'm not sure if that is good.

Because different versions suit different sects' interpretations.
But any single version is full of self-contradictions throughout. The fact is, you can't approach the bible logically. But most people - particularly "religious people" - have absolutely no critical capacity and will swallow page after page of absurdity without noticing anything wrong. Meanwhile they scoff at the Greek fables, the Arabian Nights, the Brothers Grimm, when it's really all the same thing - mythology. It just shows that religion is primarily a bigotry inherited from one's parents and social circle.

Yes there are many different versions. Some are upgrades in syntax and word use, and others are changed to suit a particular religion. Making a study of the different versions of the Bible is an essential to-day in order to get a correct version. By correct I mean one that tells the truth, and one that is that satisfies any-ones preconceived ideas.

Good question! Jews learn Hebrew before the age of 13 so they can read the original version. How many Christians are able to read the original version of the New Testament in Greek and Latin? Or even better, how many know how/when the New Testament was codified?

Some People made it in different versions, so they could make money off of them, Others did it so people would understand it better maybe, But those who did, I hope did it the right way because God said their had better not be one thing added, or taken away, or the plegues would be added to them , and their names would be taken out of the book off life.

The Christianity should, atleast, agree on The Name of God. There is a different name in differing languages of the world: God, Yahweh, Allah, Prabhu, Khuda, Deo, Adonai.. .. .. !

God seeks the world, the entire world doesn't speak English...also he reaches everyone differently.. i was a "non" believer and he came to me so gently..and i was SO mean and pushed him away for many years.. once you know the truth you cant deny him.. :) and even though you dont believe with all your logic, he is there..probably holding you :)

Great question.
Actually christians do not.
THE WORD OF GOD IS SINGULAR.
ORIGINAL. KING JAMES VERSION ALONE.
thy word o Lord is 4ever settled in heaven-Psalms (o/t)
thy word is truth. Jesus is thy way, truth and the life.-(n/t) JESUS
God gave us the bible.
IT WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE LAST NUMBER OF CENTURIES, ONLY THE LAST 100 YEARS OR SO, IT IS THE DEVILS INFLUENCE TO CONFUSE THE CHRISTIAN AND NON ALIKE-into believing a lie.
Titus 1:2 GOD CANNOT LIE.
the thing is........most ALL the new versions REMOVE- hell, the deity of Jesus, his blood, shall i go on??????
THESE ARE NOT CHRISTIAN BIBLES.
BUT WOLVES(FALSE) IN SHEEPS CLOTHING.
THE UNFORTUNATE REALITY IS THAT SINCERE PEOPLE SUFFER AND EVEN UNBELIEVERS/that is non follower of Jesus are selfdilluted and led away from the true wellspring of life.
this is wrong, and sad. =/
well GOD BLESS YOU AS YOU SEEK HIS TRUTH.
