I've asked this to a number of people and no one’s gotten it...yet.
"In a kingdom far away there was a king, queen, and a prince. Everyone loved the queen and prince, but everyone hated the king. Because of jealousy the king poisoned the queen and framed the young prince. Back then the way they judged guilt or innocence was to put a Green grape and a Purple grape in a bag. The accused would reach into the bag and pull one out. If it was green, he was innocent. If it was purple, he was guilty. The Prince stood in the great hall in front of the king and his guards and his advisors. It was time to choose a grape, but he knew that the evil king put two purple grapes in the bag. HOW DID THE PRINCE PROVE HIS INNOCENCE?

he opened one bag & without showing anybody ate the grape. then he told the people to open the the remaining bag. it was purple. so, the people concluded that what the prince ate must have been green.like this he proved his innocence.

He says to the gathered throng 'There are two grapes in the bag. I wish the king to draw a grape out and leave the other for me. Whichever the king chooses means that I accept the decision that the other, if drawn would give. The only grape that needs to be drawn is that by the king.'
The king then has to draw a grape which will be purple.
The prince then says. 'I now ask the king to place the grape he has just drawn back into the bag and, as I am innocent, believe that he was the poisoner. Let him draw a grape again to prove his guilt or innocence.'
The king then has to draw a grape again, which will be purple, or refuse and admit his deceit.

He had the evil king pull out a grape. Since it was purple, the king was guilty and therefore he, the prince, must be innocent.

The Prince pulls out one grape and keeps it in his hand. He then dumps the bag to reveal the purple grape, which means he "must" have a green grape in his hand.

He pulls one out and keeps it in his hand. He turns to the kingand says, "before you kill me, can i eat the other grape?", the king said yes. The prince pulled out the other grape and it's purple. The king is force to let the prince go free.

Makes you think.....I would say, the Prince demanded that
someone open the bag to show everyone that the evil king
was setting him up.
Or another way, perhaps a green grape and a purple grape,
have difference textures, or thickness, and the prince knew the difference....
Hope someone gets it right..You truly have me curious....
Or another answer...He could not prove his innocence.

if there were two purple grapes, that would mean the king and the prince are guilty, becoz one green grape has to be there to prove king's innocence
