Good quote kemarti.
I sell someone a plant, get my arms chopped off.... doesn't seem fair.
What would happen if there were false accusations or wrongly-convicted persons? They'd be dead or maimed, and then what? You say sorry? Not worth it. The government couldn't afford the lawsuits.

The basic premise that our system is too lenient is flawed.
Assuming that the goal is actually to deter future criminal activity, then severity of punishment is the least important of the three attributes of a criminal justice system.
Swiftness and certainty are the major factors that deter crime.
If you're a parent, you know that "Wait till Daddy gets home" doesn't work, but being sent to their room for five minutes right then does.
If you've ever housebroken a puppy, you know that spanking them for a puddle that's been there an hour doesn't work, but a loud "NO!" when they first start to make one does.
Creative punishments may amuse the crowds, but they don't fix anything.

Chop-chop. I do feel that your suggestions are too "barbaric" for a "civilized" society. We have plenty of laws and punishments in place but they are oftentimes not used to an extent that provides the desired result. First use the full potential of what you have before seeking to add to the remedy selections.

U seem quite innovative. How about
1) sending a snake up sumones a s s
2) Make them eat s h i t
3) Pour acid on their dick
4) Poke their eye with a fork.
5) Hammer nails on the skulls. ( This was actually done by a king of some European country)

I think that some may consider those punishments as cruel and inhumane. Sounds a bit Taliban'ish.

Welcome to the Sudan.
Have you been reading about all the people who have been freed by DNA evidence? What are we going to do about that? Sew the fingers and ***** and arms back on?

whatever torture you do to someone, you get the same done to you
as for stealing and selling drugs, i don't think drastic measures are as necessary (unless repeat offenders)
also, how f*cked up is it that someone can get more jail time for drug charges than rape?

Ooops--sorry, your brain is gone.
