I am interested in the usual and not so usual greetings that accompany a new baby gift.

If the child is Jewish, Mazel Tov (Good fortune). It's also appropriate for the parents, grand parents and the rest of the family.

If you are really close to his parents why not a photo with a nice frame when they were madly in love and "made" him? A future gift which was many times appreciated: buy a newspaper the day he was born/a bottle of wine of that year etc. and present it when he comes at age!
