When I was a child my Dad was on the road Monday to Saturday so Mom was definitely the one to be worried about she did not believe in spare the rod or waiting until my Father got home. If she had with 9 kids she would have gone crazy.

Definitely my Dad. I remember feeling sick to my stomach if I saw his car in the driveway on my way home from school. I never knew what to expect or what mood he may be in. He was in the Air Force and I loved it when he'd be away for a week or 2. Everything was so much more peaceful when he was gone. Now that I'm older and my parents are divorced, I'm trying to rebuild a relationship with my Dad. He's mellowed somewhat since he's gotten older.

Mom more, my siblings and I agree. For one thing, she noticed a lot more, so you were less likely to get away with anything. If dad caught you he was stricter, but it was SO much less likely you'd get caught, you almost didn't mind. And then again, sometimes mom was crazy. Her spankings hurt WAY more (I think my dad held back because he felt if he didn't he really could hurt a kid, it didn't seem like mom held back at all). And sometimes she seemed a bit psycho. Dad didn't get that privilege. If he started getting psycho she'd make him calm down. Almost no one could calm her down.
Funny thing is they're both really great now. Model grandparents too. My kids think they're saints. Sigh.

Dad, mom was easy, she'd beat you, scream a little... dad tho.. he just gets quiet. You can' tell what he's thinking. I feared seeing him cry more than my moms rage. But, I've always been a bit of a daddy's girl. A spanking fades quickly.. seeing a parent cry, and knowing you caused it... that is unnerving. and sticks with you a life time.

I feared my mother until the day she passed away (I was 39 years old then).
I never feared my dad.

I didn't fear either of my parents. I knew I was loved and when I did wrong, they sat me down and talked to me and then issued the punishment. They never hit my siblings and me, my father always said that when a man is angry, he doesn't know his own strength and my mother supported that.

mom became the disciplinarian, Dad became the diplomat. She did the direct punishing (which DID contain spanking, which I thank her for), and pa very honestly killed the prefer to do incorrect with hassle-free common sense and reasoning.
