lemon juice basically bleaches the hair, but this only works if you're in the sun, otherwise putting lemon juice on your hair is pointless!
the lemon juice thing also only works if your hair is medium/light brown or blond. it won't work on highlighting dark brown or black hair.
eat plenty of natural foods containing vitamin e, eg nuts and seeds, but the best thing to do to encourage growth is to get regular trims, about every 3 months at least.

Dunno but you could always get a home highlighting kit ( this would probably stay in for longer and wouldn't make your hair sticky and stink of lemons) and get clip in extensions to quicken up the growing process. I think drinking milk might help strengthen your hair and make it grow quicker; i drink loads of it and my hair grows like wild fire. Also go to somewhere hot and sunny. The sun bleaches your hair and makes it lighter.

if you want to make your hair grow faster, your head must be lower than your shoulders when you brush your hair. for example, you can sit down with your head on the level of your knees. this makes blood flow better and nourish your hair-roots;)
