The Sony (6 megapixels) has a higher resolution but the Canon (4 megapixels), in general, is superior to the Sony in most other ways. The Sony is a new model while the Canon is an older model, is why. The two really aren't the same class of camera. If you are on a budget, and all you want to do is snap normal size prints and use the (better) movie mode, then get the Canon (4 megapixels is plenty for standard size prints). However, if you are going to make larger prints, get the Sony.

There are even better versions of this camera. However, they cost more and, although better quality, there is diminishing returns, depending on what you use it for. If you just take normal photos, the A540 will give you very good results. So will the A430. The better cameras won't do much more for you. You will notice a difference between the A430 and the A540. You probably won't notice any difference between the A540 and more expensive versions of this camera, unless you make large prints.

Canon A430 $150 i have one it's the best camera that i've.
it's very every to operate i learned how to use it the 1st day.
great zoom, great barttey life, you plug it in your tv , use it at a webcam. video caption. the flash on that baby so good you can take a pic in pitch black room and pics will look like you took the the day time.
