Kids shouldn't have mobile phones.

They are potentially dangerous to their health from the irradiation of their brain.
Never mind the masts it's the phone right by the brain that's the problem.
If you don't agree, use Google to research "Inverse square law" and then think about it.
Radio transmission strengths obey this law, so a 25 watt transmitter 50m away is far less damaging than the 0.5 watt transmitter in the phone 3cm away.
Then think further about a microwave oven.
A microwave oven is simply a transmitter in an enclosed metal box that cooks things....

They are also dangerous because the kids don't look where they're going when messing with it. I've seen several just walk straight out onto the road without looking.

They walk into people and other objects ( shop doors, lamp posts, sign posts ) while distracted by messing with the phone.

They can potentially receive pornographic pictures and text messages, but TV is probably as bad as well as some "kids" magazines.

They can be bullied and abused through it.

They can indvertantly sign up for expensive services without realising it ( Jamster - Crazy Frog being one example )

That'll do for now.

We didn't have them as kids, and I see no real reason for kids to have them now.

i wouldnt let a kid under 11 years old have a fone.
i never needed a phone and i never even used the house phone when i was that young..

kids start going out more and going further when they get to a secondary school so its more important for them to have one incase they get in danger.

I don't agree that technology makes kids grow up too quickly. I do agree with somone who said it makes them targets for mugging.

I think more damage is done by so-called kids telly programs have a much more adult content. You know, pop stars with hardly any clothes on. Then (daft) parents dress up thier kids like that, even putting make up on little girls, or getting their ears/noses etc pierced.
