this one is a tough one but stick to it and you will win. you may be getting a few sleepless nights but it will be best for them. put them to bed in his/her bed and return them to their bed every time they get out. do not sleep with them in their bed. let them cry it out use night lights if needed. but it is much easier to do it at this age then when they are older. not to mention it is unhealthy for children to sleep with their parents

I would try a reward chart, a simple calendar with a star every morning that the child sleeps in their own bed. At the end of the week they get a special treat.

If they're afraid and can't do it, and come in anyway, don't let them in the bed anymore, put something on the floor next to the bed. That will make the whole thing less desireable to them. Be matter-of-fact, and not angry, about the whole thing.

Sometimes you can put a night light in the room , or some soft music, that kids would like. Try putting a picture of you in the room also so the little one can see it, and of course the all popular stuffed animals... You can also start the night out by reading a little book and singing ...start a tradition.

My dad brought my little brother's mattress from his bedroom into his room & made him sleep on it on the floor when he couldn't get him to go to his own room. Eventually he got tired of being on the floor & went to his own room.
