u realise just HOW tired u were
the less u sleep the less u need it (or realise how much u need it)
after much training..... i can get away with 3 hours sleep and feel absolutely fine... obviously this took a while and i dont sleep 3 hours every night. but most, about 4 out of a week. but this is due more 2 insomnia not the feeling after sleeping too much

Apparently it's all a balance thing. If you get too little sleep, average below 6 hours, you're not 'recharged'. Likewise, if you sleep too much, say over 12 hours, your body and brain become a bit stagnant. But it's more importnat to get a consistent sleep patern. i.e. if you sleep between 3am and 11am every day, you'll feel a lot better than if you alternate between sleeping from 10pm to 6am one night, then 1am to 9am the next, blah blah.

Normally we would need an average of 8 hours of sleeping time daily. That would constitute one sleeping cycle per day.But if we exceed the number of hours we required, we would need another sleeping cycle.Normally we woke up in the middle of the 2nd cycle,we need to sleep to make up the hours of the cycle. If we fail to do so, we would feel worst.

sleeping 8 hours is fine. oversleeping makes you feel week and lazy. you may get headaches also because you have skip meals. body pains like back pains is one of the effects of over sleeping.
sleeping to get some rest is good. over sleeping is bad!

Oversleep(hypersomnia), little or no sleep(insomnia) could be due to depression. So there will not be any good effects unless the underlying problem is solved.
