The short answer is yes. Excess carbs are turned into fat and stored for later use. Fat is not the enemy. A well balanced diet will have about 15-20% of calories from fats, 1/3 saturated 2/3 unsaturated. The fats also need to be balanced for best health. Most foods in the U.S. are deficient in omega 3. Flax seed oil and fish oils are better balanced.

People sometimes eat out of boredom and/or anxiety...I myself included. In fact, I plowed like 900 calories over my maintance, yesterday. Hahaha.

Solution:

Throughout the day, drink alot of water, tea and eat plenty (at least 2-3) fruit servings. Since they have alot of water, it'll help make you feel fuller quick. Try this before breakfast or after each meal. It's worked wonders for me, when fasting (a less conventional way to lose weight). Coffee is also pretty good, but I wouldn't recommend more than 1-2 cups a day, unless you happen to drink it often in the first place.

But seriously, tea, water and fruits are gold.

your less hungry in school, because your sitting down and not using energy for the majority of the day. Also your attension is on whatever you are studying, while at home your mind can drift to what you should eat, even if your not hungry. Dont skip meals though, it can delevope a very bad habit. Also when buying food make sure not to purchase anything with hydrogenated oils in them, or just stick to organic(no chemicals), its better for your body

Eat more veggies and fruits. I eat a lot of food in a day, but most of it is the right things. If you eat something high in calories, make the rest of the day healthy. Get the junk out of your fridge.

I think it's about how busy you are at home. If you are really focused on doing something (like you would be at school) then you don't have time to think about your stomach every 5 minutes.

Don't sit around watching TV all ofternoon otherwise your brain will drift to food all the time. Rather get outside and get active or do something else that is fun and will occupy your brain. You'll think about food much less.

Don't skip lunch, and make better choices. Fill up on fruits and vegetables instead of foods that are bad for you.
