Religion is a set of beliefs which you follow. While personal belief (which is more common among westerners who pretend to be muslim, buddhism and christian), they choose what they want to believe in those set of beliefs.

They choose what they find good for themselves, compatible with the way they want to live, and reject those which they do not want and be obstacles in the way they want to live.

A religion is an organized belief system, usually associated with a divine or sacred being or an object to which sacred or divine characteristics are ascribed. See Wikapedia entry at the link below.

Personal belief can be equated to one or more elements of a personal philosophy and might or might not include belief in a "God". Someone could have a personal belief in humanism (See link) which specifically excludes faith in a god.

A religion usually requires some belief in a supernatural being manifesting itself in one or more forms and interacting with humans and/or the environment in various degrees.

A personal belief does not have to fit these constraints. An atheist does not believe in a god, and does not fit in the religious category but does have a personal belief that contradicts most if not all religious bodies.

ALL beliefs are personal beliefs. Theists don't simply adhere to scripture regardless of their own personal beliefs. Religion doesn't change what you "personally" believe. Christians are Christians because their personal beliefs coincide with the bible. In fact, there are Christians who support homosexuality and abortion, even though other Christians will claim that they are not "true" Christians. People don't simply change their beliefs to that of the bible when becoming Christians. That's absurd. They choose their religion based on what they already believe. A gay supporter won't suddenly oppose gays simply because they're Christian. It goes against our very nature and the way in which beliefs are developed.

Personally i think that religion is a monotonous activity. Based upon what others say. Religion is a structure establish by man himself in order to built a way of living he think is best. There is no sure evidence that what is said is completely true.

Personnal belief is base upon our own experience, things in which we have the answers. It is not based upon what other said but we have the evidence on the things we saw and experienced personnally.
