I'll always believe the Bible over any man's opinion. The Bible is the word of God, and so is flawless. However, man is sinful, and has been coming up with ways to deny God and His word ever since sin. You can never arrive at the whole truth by denying part of it, and the Bible is true.

Logic dictates that "nothing" never existed.

Which means that the universe has always existed. Not only has it always existed, it is infinite.

The "big bang" is speculation about the origination of our "visible universe." Our "visible universe" is but a tiny, insignificant speck in the infinite universe.

The universe must be infinite because "nothing" does not exist.

There was no creation or creator. The infinite, eternal universe required no creation or creator.

But, it is all speculation and will unlikely ever be proven one way or another.

Logically, there really is no other answer. And the idea that an uncreated creator created the universe is too ridiculous to even be given serious consideration.

Interesting. I'm actually reading "A Briefer History of Time" right now. To see how everything works goes to show that there *is* an order to this universe. And the fact that Hawking doesn't comment on what (or who) set up the stage for the Big Bang Theory leads me to believe he might be a "believer" too. ^_^

Yourself! You have a brain and a penal gland get to working. Had did the indians find god? Or Jews etc etc? If you can't look around, look within. In today's world with all these books and Hawkins why would you ever look for your own answers. This is the first step of being a so call genius.

No, he doesn't.
Just like the "Darwin recanted on his deathbed" story, this is a fabrication. In fact, Dr. Hawkings is mum on the subject of god. His one and only reference to such a mythical creature is actually a quote from Einsten "god does not play dice with the universe" where he was actually trying to dumb down his theories for the masses.
That's it.
If you can read his devotion to an imaginary sky-pixie there then you probably think that Anton LeVey was a pentecostal minister...

I also firmly believe in God, but do not believe in the Bible creation story. If everything started with the Big Bang, then I believe God did that. But after that, nature (so to speak) has taken it's course. I don't believe he interacts with humans, or puts stipulations on them or wants us to pray to him. He is the Creator, period. Evolution happened, in my mind.

He believes in God but he is a "normal" Christian. He keeps his beliefs within a logical and rational framework-he is aware of what belongs in the realm of belief and what is verifiable fact. Let other Christians learn from his example.

The latest theorys seem to discount the idea of the big bang.

They don't actually disprove it because it was never actually proven.

They just make it unnecessary.
