It depends on how it's used.

A 'relay' is an electromagnetic device which consists of an electromagnet connected (mechanically) to one or more electrical contacts. When current flows through the electromagnet, the contacts close (or open, depending on the configuration). It's used to 'isolate' one circuit from another.

'To relay' means to pass along information. A 'relay' can also, therefore, be a collection of equipment to facilitate the transference of information.

An electrically controlled mechanical device that opens and closes electrical contacts when a voltage (or current) is applied to a coil. A relay provides isolation of control signals from switched signals.

OR

A RELAY is a device that operates a switch by remote control. A relay triggers interruption of a circuit when a fault is detected.

Relay is a switching device, usually used to control high current / voltage (like 10 Amp / 230 V AC) through a relatively small electrical signal (like 6V DC / 12 V DC).

Basically its a switch. there are 2 types ; Viz,

1) Electromagnetic Type - (with an electromagnet & mechhanical arrangement ) or

2) Solid State Type - (fully electronic - with no mechanical component)

The relays are widely used in devices like voltage Stabilisers, UPS, Indistrial controls etc.

It is a an electric switch when you apply a potential higher than the threshold then the relay starts conducting. When it goes beyond the threshold the inductance coil creates the magnetic field which attracta the conductor and connects the points that are open.

in a relay race, one man passes off a baton to another to continue the race, In engineering, a relay is an electro-mechanical device that passes off one signal to another. Often a low voltage wire and switch (on a control panel?) is used to close another switch in a remote high voltage circuit. That may allow the second circuit to have its own fuse or breaker.

A relay can be seen as a messenger. In electricity, a relay is a electromagnetic switch which closes or opens its contacts if its coil is energized by electricity. It can only handle small voltage or current typically 24vdc or 240vac.

You seriously sound just like me! I was the same way. I recommend coming out to a trustworthy friend or two first. I don't have many close friends either, so I just came out to everyone cuz I was ready, so you could do that too. Don't come out to you parents until you are 100% and you have the support of your friends at school. That way if your parents don't accept you, you'll have someone to fall back on. I have recently come out as queer because it's non specific and bi and gay girls notice me now as someone who could be more than a friend. It's simple yet effective. If people ask you about it, just say, "I prefer not to go by specific labels."
