Hey, all you baptist christian folks! I need help. This is my problem:
I have a very scientific mind. I like things with scientific proof, nice and orderly, easily accessible, and neatly filed away. I have my own theories to complement (or compete with) existing theories, and I am a bit of a perfectionist on the side. I like knowing exactly why things do what. I think you get the picture; I am basically a 17 year old scientist.
Anyway, I come from a religious, baptist family. I myself never was very religious, and my parents, who were the only ones in my family who didn't go to church, didn't expose us to religion much. Well, we moved and that changed. The family I have in the area go to church all the time. I went for awhile, and then started working the night shift fridays and saturdays. I am getting nervous about my faith: I don't know what to think. I explained my mind set earlier; I think god MAY be possible. I think scientists may also. what can I do to change?

okay. Let me rephrase that. CHRISTIANS?
see, I don't want to become catholic (no offense) or pagan (you guys are cool, but no) or...etc. All my family is baptist, so that's why I said that. also, I don't know the difference between different types of christians (except for catholisism). I don't mean to exclude anyone, or insult anyone, and yes, I DO have a very scientific mind, everyone tells me so.

hey Bastard... go away and play S.O.B somewhere else please. and, your FINGER is inapropriate for this section.

others...science, although may be ALL WRONG may be all right, just with god's touch to make it so. who says god didn't kindle the sun? or force the universe to explode in the Big Bang? Just because it doesn't say the big bang was the method doesnt mean it wasnt how he allowed it to happen.
I have no faith and want it. however, I will not say " jesus i believe you died on the cross for me" if I don't believe it completely. That would be lying, and not only is lying a sin, but I don't like lying anyway.

My dear brother...

WHAT A STRANGE STRIKE OF DESTINY!

I am a Scientific brain too....

But look!! I am a Muslim!!...i dont want to seem as if i am forcing you or offereing you anything!!!

Look...in religion....there is two scientific schools!!....new and old.!!!...the old...is...STOP your brain when it comes to religion!!
The new one....which i follow ...hey...use your brain in every thing!!!

SO.....lets see!!

What if you sit in the after noon and say ....mmm,...where is God!!!??

How can u solve this issue scientifically!!!???...i tell u !!

1- You cant say where is god...because god has created every place ..he cant be "within" or "limited"....by the place he created....so we cant say god is in the sky...because he built the sky....he cant be limited by the thing he created!

2-Can you see a virus "a Common cold" for example? entering your lungs from the air.....NO...you cant...but it exists!!!.....so..is god!!.....he exist but u cant see him!!!...(its philosophy ...i have gone deep in philosophy since high school)

3- What can u see?.....only lights with wave length...lower than your eye can see!!!right!!!....in the zone that your eye can see....the frequency i mean!!.........so....you want to see GOD....first he has to be low so your eyes can see him......and once being low in anything...he isnt a good in any more....god,....is a super super!...he is beyond description ok!!
second...if u manage to see him!!...u will get blind....imagine!!!....opening your eyes....to X-rays and beta, gamma.lasers ...and other higher freq..rays!!!...u willbe blind...may be dead......

so...u cant see god...but he is there.......scientificallly proven!!!

ok..anyway....you have to read....and if u find yourself in islam....see the links..below.....islam doesnt close the mind...but opens the mind.......remember Europe in the medieval ages.....ISLAM was the ONLY ADVANCED CIVILZATION ON EARTH!!......ok....read......the first word in islam was read!!!!

ok.....bye brother....if u want to know more please dont hesitate to contact me...just click my name there!!!

>or force the universe to explode in the Big Bang?

Exactly. People who think that science and faith are incompatable lack imagination. Early religious writings aren't supposed to be a physics textbook - allegory and poetry are in there for a reason. It's less about the *how* than the *why*.

Science, on the other hand, is the *how* - with little to no thought about the *why*. If religion can supply the other half of the equation, more power to it, you know?

Stick with it - the two can complement each other quite well. Sure some folks might give you some flack for it, but don't worry too much about that.

Sir, your only help can only come from God, Not a Denomination. Just ask God to forgive you of all your sins, through the blood of Jesus Christ, & Believe that God has forgiven you, then go & be baptized in The only way anyone in the Bible was ever baptized, & that was in The Name of The Lord Jesus Christ, & then let God fill you with the Holy Ghost. You don't need a denomination. You need God. Good Luck. Also living for God is by faith & not sight nor feelings, Many times you may feel like you are the only one, but just look to those footprints in the sand, If you only see one set of foot prints, that is when Jesus is carrying you.

It is included in the text itself. Follow the outline found in Rev. 1:19, and you will have a pretty good idea of the timeline. Cross reference to Daniel 2 and Daniel 7; and to Ezekiel 38 & 39. See also Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, and 1 Thes. 4 &5 (with Rev 4). Zechariah 14 coincides with Rev. 19. When the Church is raptured, you may begin counting out 7 years to the Great Tribulation.

First of all, not all scientists are atheists - there are many scientist who believe in God and Jesus as their savior. You might find the challenge of using science to prove the Bible very challenging.

I too have a very scientific background along with advance statistics and mechanical applications (you might see that in my web name). I also believe in Jesus Christ as my savior! These can and do go very much hand in hand.

You might start with the few listed websites here – search for “Bible Science” versus Christian Science with is not the same thing.

The first link is especially interesting.

Read the Bible and use your scientific mind together. Accepting Christ into your heart is the only way to salvation

I don't know if you need to change. I won't preach to you much but i will tell you that faith is a good thing. Believing God is real is the first step. Don't be afraid to try something new - He may amaze you.
As far as knowing how things work, I think we all want the answers. But... we can't have them all.
Besides, if you come to the conclusion that God isn't real - you just start over, and it wouldn't matter. But if you conclude that He is real - well that could change everything, in a good way.
It's worth a shot. Best of luck and i'll keep you in my prayers.

Look with -in your self grasshopper, only then will you find the answers you seek.

If you only take the good things from all the religions you'd be doing OK.

If you want to be a scientist do the research,

But know this you will never get the answer you want.

EVER.

You are a 17 year old child, not a scientist.

Go enjoy life, before you really do have to grow up.

And stop worshipping at the altar of science, for that is also a false religion that believes in too many guesses.

what do you want to change? God made you who you are for a reason. by the way, there are many scientific Christians.

as far as the church issue... keep going, keep learning.

as far as believing in God... that's faith. only you can decide to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior... it's personal.

good luck & God bless ;)

I think you're hard-wired to be that way. For some people faith is easy, for others it's a lifelong struggle. Good luck in your struggle.

P.S.
I believe God especially values people who struggle to hold on to their faith, because they have to work out their salvation with fear, trembling, and a courageous search for the truth.
