depends on how old the child is and how sincere they were...it's a bit stilted in the wording, I think, so it kind of sounds like a repetition of something they heard.

I would love it. For a little one to say that to you would mean the world. My daughter and I always say to each other, "How do you know I love you?" and the other will say, "cause you're in my heart and I'm in yours." The first time she came up to me and said that I about fell on the floor it was so precious. Kids can't always express things the way an adult does and a really young kid can't at all so when they say things like what you asked, it shouldn't be taken for granted. It should be taken with open arms and the feeling of warmth all over your soul.

a mom s job is it to be everything but not perfect until the kids go out of the house and start their own life - just be there , show them your love and careing - love is always the key even when it means to do something the kids dont want .. smile and try to send the hand out - they will take it when they need a helping hand . just be open and honest
i have 3 monsters - and my son hates me at the moment - sure cause today is the day for him to clean his room ..

I would smile and reach my arms out and hold him or her close. Then I would reply "Baby, you are very dear to my heart as well."
Very sweet!
