There must be first and last, and all truth. There were many prophets for example: Adam, Ibrahim, Muses, Jesus, Muhammad. All of them are truth. But The unique thing about Islam is that it's the last religion. This means that No other religion from God will be next. That's why every thing needed for ruling your life and organizing relationships is included in Quran and Prophet Muhammad life. And by the way, Historically it's not so late than Christianity at all.

What do you mean by so late? If you compared periods on time separating different prophets, I don't think the period of time separating Muhammed from Jesus is much longer than that separating other prophets...
Anyway, I believe Islam came at a time hmanity reached a certain maturity, and came with rational arguments unlike other religion that had miracles as proofs...
PS: islam wasn't "created"...

Islam,as it says is the true religion of God right from the beginning of humanity.literally,we can't say that Adam,Noah,David,Moses,Jesus etc. were muslims but the present muslims believe that all these prophets believed in the same faith and preached the same ideology of the one and only God.later on,their followers deviated from their faith and God sent Prophet Muhammad to renew the true religion of God.He was to be the last prophet and his teachings are to be followed till the last day.The ideology of this last prophet of God was termed 'Islam'.

If the Bible is the truth, why was it not invented until the 4th Century?
If Hebrews were following the one true God, why did it require the Roman Empire popularizing the Hebrew God before anyone else knew about him?

Islam is late because of all Prophets books of god are not till now but when prophet Mohammad came to the earth god gave him the book which we are saying as Quran & every thing of all profet's of there books is ritten in Quran.
