z Yes it will, but it would help if you increase your Temp File size. You also need alot of hard drive space for XP, about 20 gig for the OS, and about 20 Gig free.

I don't recommend using XP on a system like that. It will run, but it will run slowly. Even if you just plan on using it just for Internet access and some light word processing stuff, then it would be slow.

Keep in mind that for Internet stuff, you'll need to install additional software such as Anti-virus and a firewall. These background running programs will take a significant amount of memory. Memory is the main thing with XP.
Programs suck up more memory with XP and the operating system uses much more memory than Win9x.
Your virtual memory page file will be accessed so much, that your computer will slow down to a crawl.
Unless you're using the computer to play DOS games and early Windows games, I'd donate that computer system. Even a Pentium 3 these days is seriously outdated. If you must use that computer, then at least look for another 128 MBs from a flea market or some other place that sells old computer peripherals.

the original minimum specifications were 64mb and 233mhz, (shocking i know)

experts now advise a min of 256mb simply because modern day computer usage has increased and people are using much more software and added devices (ipods, cameras etc) and at 128mb you wouldnt have enough to run xp without it crawling like a snail. Even 256mb would be a push.

My other half bought a laptop recently with xp and 256mb, and immediately had problems. for example whenever his antivirus ran he just wouldnt be able to do anything else while it was scanning, everything else would either slow or freeze. mult-itasking was just impossible and as for loading in and playing games properly, well you can forget that with 256mb.

He bought some more memory (512mb for about £40.00) and everthing runs smoothly now.

windows xp will run fine on the pentium 2,these intel processors were the best in their day,i had a p2 as my 1st ever p.c and i found it very relaible, but i was using windows 98
the memory (128mb) is just on the borderline for xp,as microsoft recommend 256mb,but the processor speed is fine with microsoft recommending 233mhz+
sd-ram is very cheap these days, and you should be able to buy a 128mb ram module for around £10

you would be unable to run it of XP. homestead windows XP would not help DirectX 10+ pics enjoying cards, it basically helps as much as DirectX 9, collectively as maximum video games nonetheless use DirectX 9, Battlefield 3 would not. It desires DX10 minimum, therefor you prefer an OS that would use it, Vista or 7.

That will depend on the usage.if you run a very lean system as internet terminal then yes, 128MB should be enuff. But ifyou wantto do video editing then NO, just no way in today's world. if you are a programmer you can run gvim nicely but eclipse and netbeans maybe not! so it depends on how you pplan to use the m/c.

If possible up the memory to 1GB. Otherwise when all the software you want to use is loaded the machine will crawl.

However with the cost of new systems these days you are probably better replacing, rather than cursing everytime you do something processor intensive on it.

Yes but not recomended because of lack of processing power and lack of RAM.

Install Windows 98SE as this is a stable platform.

Good Luck.

PS 98SE is no longer upgraded by Microsoft, so ensure Firewall and Anti-Virus are up to date at all times.

XP uses about 250MB of RAM. I would upgrade your RAM to a least 512MB, preferably 1GB.
