why do you use "x-tians" instead of "christians?"

if your brother's name was christopher, would you call him
"x-opher?"

is it a time/typing issue or the "christ" issue?

thankyou for your input ;)

It's a convenient short-hand. I used to avoid it so as not to offend the Xians. Since that's an impossible task, I don't worry about it anymore.

THE REAL ANSWER: It's because it was time consuming and costly. The first provable instance is from the 15th century. After the invention of the printing press w/movable type churches began printing publications. It was costly and time consuming, so they used abbreviations. X is Greek for chi, so this became their abbreviation for Christ. Some trace the abbreviation X all the way back to the 1st century church, but the 1400's offers the only real evidence of it's use. So quit getting all worked up about it you Christians, you started it.

Because I like to irritate people that blindly worship a god that is all powerful, yet won't reveal himself, claims to heal and commit miracles, but will not.
I love it when one moment the christians claim that the evil atheists are taking god out of everything and making this world go to hell, and then they'll turn around and tell how they are winning the battle with god on their side.

All gods are mere myths created by the times.
America is a country founded on religious freedom. For me, that means freedom from the close-mindedness brought on by following religion. Every time I see a zealot get upset about their petty gods I have to giggle. Then I go kill a kitten. Just kidding....I don't giggle.

My point is, these people are worried that by misusing his name I am disrespecting him. Why does an all powerful god really care if one of the ants doesn't weant to worship him? Since us humans are so weak in his eyes, why does the action of one ant actually have any pull in dethroning their god?

Don't agitate the dots.

you're real. lots of the Christmas traditions come from the Roman holiday reported as Saturnalia (spelling?) the place they have been given under the impact of alcohol. gave presents to a minimum of one yet another and had wild events. This got here approximately on or in regards to the wintry climate solstice Dec 21 and ran in direction of the hot 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. Jesus became born sometime in the autumn, close to the time of the ceremonial dinner of First culmination.

The early Christian Church was the first to use the abbreviation "x". Some believe the 1st century church used it as code. But when the printing press was invented it was used to save time and ink.

Well I always type out christians, however I usually use xmas at when referring to the holiday because that is what my christian parents taught me. My mother was a stenographer and typesetter.. she always told me there was nothing wrong with shorthand.

I just think that x-iests don't like the word Christ. They've takin it out of christmas and BC(before christ) has been changed to BCE (before the common era). I think for the most part they don't like that man.
