Though they say on thier official website as 6-8 weeks,in reality it seems more than 20 weeks.

Curious is right. Also, here is the page where you can find the backlog at every visa-issuing post in the world. It's updated every week - if we forget, we get a supercilious reminder, so we all try our best to remember: Right now, Riyadh is at 49 days for the first available interview, plus seven more days before the passport can be given back:

The appointment time varies so much. The key is to be patient, but also email them once a month to show your heart is in your case.
I know and understand well what you are going through. I too am involved with a vsa case now and my wife is waiting for her interview time.

Another thing we did was contact the congressman in my state. He did help and that will cut some time off of the waiting period.

More than 20 weeks.

The website waiting time is fairly accurate - the embassy has gone to considerable lengths to reduce their backlog of appointments and expedite NIV appointments and the wait time has been cut down considerably. I advise you to apply as soon as possible.

I'm pretty sure you have to set it up yourself, maybe take the results with you to the interview.
