or not, just to make themselves believe in accuracy of their own religious dogma?

Look at our foreign policy concerning Israel, and the beliefs of many fundamentalist Christians that keeping Israel propped up with bring about the end times, and you have the answer to your question. As to why they do this, I don't think it is to make themselves believe in the accuracy of their dogma. I think it's more arrogant than that. I think they want to actively play a part in the advent of the end times, so that they can say that they did it. If I were God in this case, I'd be fairly irritated that I had such arrogant smug bastards believing in me.

I don't know that they CAN make it happen, but this is an instance of wishful thinking and working to make wishes come true. Right now, millions of deluded people are trying to "make" the second coming happen, using criteria they've derived from some bizarre book written by a bunch of zonked out freaks...They think that if there's a nuclear war in the Middle East (it would actually be nuclear slaughter), then god will appear in all her/his glory. Etc. Etc.

Delusions are real for these people, and if they aren't "really real" they'll try to make them so.

Thumpers ("end timers") are proof that stupidity is a common commodity.

The "end times" have been used by politicians for hundreds of years when they wanted to incite the stupid for political reasons.

There will be no "end times."

God controls the Prophceies in the bible, man does not, so since you think it is a theory, why are you so worry?
