Hi - the link below explains why Rappers brought in a new use of that word. I can see that people haven't read the question - i hope that it is not me misreading it. On the other hand, your questions are usually way cooler. You really want to get people going with this one don't you?
I agree it is an offensive word - but it is part of American English and in its new form we are stuck with it.
I hate xenophobia and racism. I also hate to see the racists use your question as a place for their vituperative bile, but i suspect this is a Devil's advocate type of question and as such it will attract the low lifes.

not saying you should call each that but if you put it up on a pedestal it will make it more important than it is and when it is used for racism it will be worst but also is so different from when some gay people call them self's "fags" or "square". i suppose you can use the meaning of the word to show how you should make up words to offend but over time some words just don't get used and black people used the word to turn around the meaning which was good but it still doesn't make the word any worst. not all black people do that some do. i don't use it but even if you don't like it you can't stop people from using it-it's there freedom of speech and i think over time like some words that become old it will probably fades and loose meaning over time. the words origin mean black in Latin or something so in that context there is nothing wrong with it.

Methinks you've deliberately chosen a note that you understand damn properly will elicit very few calm and rational responses. short answer. that's perceived as offensive, and it isn't in simple terms perceived as offensive through black human beings. which could be your alpha and omega. The note itself has little to do with slavery, that's a corruption of Negroid, it quite is the anthropological designation of those of black African descent interior a similar way as Caucasoid is the anthropological designation of white human beings. 'that's only a valid.' Aye, and so develop into each and every major speech in historic previous. words carry weight. words soothe, words damage. And words offend. you would possibly want to as well get used to the concept; it shouldn't bypass away.

Isn't it interesting that blacks can use an offensive word with each other but if anyone else uses it, all h'e'l'l breaks loose. This is such an awful word that senators and preachers, newscasters and talk show hosts all call it the "N" word. However, it's okay to use God's name in vain and scream obscenities and vulgarities all day long. It's fine to bash the president, his family, and Christianity but ohhhhhhhh, never say n'i'g'g'e'r
unless you are one.

It's a culture thing. I guess they like being called names. I mean, they have no problem addressing women as b|tches and h0es...
Though, I find it hilarious that they get really pissed off when any non-black calls them a n|gger. I've seen both white people and asains get jumped because they called a black guy a n|gger. It's a sad, sad world...
You've no reason to feel offended. (1) They didn't call you it, and (2) they're entitled to call each other whatever they want.

This word should NEVER die.
While there is one race or section of the community that are being downtrodden or treated like ******* we should never forget that we should ALL be treated equally. It is one of the very few words left that can truly shock people. When it stops shocking people we have achieved true equality. Then we can let the word pass into misuse. However, I don't see it happening in my lifetime.

Apparently its because some black people thought that since white supremisists called them that so much, thats what they are so it just stuck. This is not a reflection on my own beliefs, all people are equal in my book.

In a setting where there are all black people, friends call each other that name. But is an outsider calls them that it is disrespectful, because you are trying to belittle them. I myself, have tried to stop my husband from saying it but he doesn't listen because he also uses it to talk to his friend.
For the moron that called you a moron, he is the moron, black people are not niggers, they are black people with dignity and they deserve respect from everyone that wants respect back. Every culture has their own sayings that are used only within themselves.
For this moron again go to a black bar or club and I dare you to say that word, you said it here, because you are safe from getting your *ss whopped.
