I am thinking I may catch a deadly infection that killed more people in 1918 than world war one. Most killer forms of flu start in China

There is always an elevated risk of becoming ill in a foreign nation, because you lack immunity to endemic illnesses while those around you may carry the diseases without being affected. However, the deadly "Spanish flu" of 1918-1919 is believed to have originated in Kansas. The bottom line is that you probably don't need to worry about sharing close quarters with your Chinese friends, unless someone appears visibly ill, in which case you should take the same precautions as you would if any of your other friends were ill.

Poor Joe, u really are not to bright. The 1918 flu Pandemic started in the state of Kansas, taken overseas by the troops, then spread like wildfire. And yes it is safe to have social intercourse with people from Kansas. If it leads to sexual intercourse, best to use a condom. Panic, it may have been Kentucky, all I know for sure is it was a "K" state.

You are talking about the influenza epidemic of nearly 100 years ago!
Talking to people(social intercourse), whatever their nationality, will leave you exposed to whatever airborne diseases are carried by everyone in the room.
The fact that an outbreak occurs in a different part of the world than you are in shouldn't bar you from 'talking' to people from that region.
Do you think folk should cease to talk to us English because of BSE?

Yes, because these infections don't exist now.
Any chinese with whatever flu would not be allowed to leave China, they would be treated in hospital.
