I heard that it's not good to run in very cold weather because it could freeze your lungs! What are some good clothing options that will keep me warm?

I have mostly run in nice weather but I have run in rainy, wet, cold weather too. Here is what I found. When I am running my body is heated up. No problem. The problem occurs if I cool down in the cold. So run and get indoors immediately. This may make a difference. I was never a jogger. I ran hard. Even a ten mile run was at a fast pace up and down some big hills. So I generated a lot of body heat. When I finished I got inside and hit the showers. Never got sick or had a cold either.
