I am 31 yrs old, male, 6ft tall. I love pizza, Im only 14 stones on the scales. Problem is I have a huge belly bump and all the weight in my body seems to go straight there, mostly booze and pizza. I dont want to cut back on drinking or eating as I work hard for a living and I dont smoke. I am off work for a week, whats the most extreme way to flatten my beer gut?

Stop drinking beer and eating pizza. Both are super high sources of carbohydrates, which if you don't work out, turn into fat.
Best way to flatten your stomach is to exercise at least an hour a day for 5 days. Also a good diet in which you can moderately eat pizza and drink beer is better (maybe pizza twice a week and beer twice a week).

Sorry, but it sounds like you need to find a replacement for the beer and pizza that you're seeing as a reward for working hard for a living. If you're serious about losing the beer gut, you'll have to cut down on the beer. Doesn't mean you have to eliminate it altogether. But you should try alternating a beer with a water so you're not taking in so many empty calories during your evening.

Now go out for brisk walks - 4 miles an hour is a good pace that will show results.

Stop eating pizza, try something else like a fruit salad in your lunch or something. Some healthy foods are actually very tasty and they're good for you too! Beer isn't the best thing either. Try Cider, that's beer and it's not that unhealthy.

If you're still not satisfied, go to the gym for a while. You'll be as fit as a fiddle!!

If you don't want to eat right and give up beer, NOTHING will help you. The problem IS the pizza and beer (sorry!)

Can you just cut back a little? Even just giving up a slice or two here and there and cut down to one beer will make a difference.

You're contradicting yourself. First of all, you did not get fat quickly, so you shouldn't expect to lose it quickly. You said you don't want to cut back on eating and drinking. You don't have a choice, man. The alternative is to exercise 24/7. You desperately need to rearrange how you think about eating. There are two links below that you need to concern yourself with. First, is the phi foundation, where you will find a fasting regimen. Second, is some psychology behind overeating which you'll find on my geocities website. Finally, if you ever truly want to lose weight the proper way, you'll read the rest of my tips and do it right.

Losing weight really is as simple as basic addition and subtraction. If the calories you eat add up to more than what you burn in a given time period, you will gain weight. Conversely, if you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. Depending on your size and activity level, the number of calories will vary quite a bit. The secret is finding your “break even” calorie intake level. For most people, the “ball park” figure will be around 1800 to 2000 calories per day. If you are larger than average, this number will be higher, lower if you are smaller than average. Metabolic rate can have an effect on these numbers as well. Exercise plays an important role also, as this can increase the number of calories you burn by quite a bit as well as increasing your metabolic rate.

If you want a generally healthy diet that’s easy to follow and avoids hunger, the one I recommend will do the job very well. You can fill up and still lose weight. Eat lots of fresh vegetables as they contain very few calories yet are full of good nutrition. The less you cook them, the more nutrition they retain. Stick with whole grains, as they tend to be better for you and don’t turn to sugar as readily as processed grains do. For example, whole grain bread is much better for you than plain white bread. Eat a variety of fruit on a daily basis. Avoid empty carbs, fats, and sugars…. Examples: junk food and soda. If you feel you need protein to build muscle, add some chicken or fish to your diet. Avoid beef and dairy products, the cons outweigh the pros.

If you can’t get your mind into the ‘eat to live; don’t live to eat mode‘, you should probably read this short article on the psychology behind overeating:

Have your doctor check for diabetes. Or on a lesser scale insulin resistance. they can put you on a medication called metformin. Usually insulin resistant individuals gain a lot more weight around their midsection.

Alternatively, you can eat 5-6grams of cinnamon everyday and see if that helps any. Also limit your simple carbohydrate intake from things such as sodas and white bread. Yes this includes beer, unfortunately! But you can switch over to mixed drinks. Bloody-marrys are a favorite of mine, they are lower in carbs and higher in vitamins.

they are both right mate. im in the same situation, i love my takeaways and a drink. i have cut right down on both, i feel better in myself, but i cant reall do any stomach exercises at the moment due to a hernia op a couple of weeks ago. try a bit of jogging or riding, anything that shakes the gut, it worked for me last time. other than that, get some cellophane before you go back to work.

There is no other way but to exercise as you are not overweight. To tone, it's sweat & pain dear. Crunches are good but take it steady to start with or you'll strain a muscle.
