I think in reality most people would have no clue how to find food if society collapsed and there was nothing left to eat. They would have no idea how to kill & properly butcher any animal. Heck if people knew how digusting and nasty butchering really is, most americans would give up meat if they had to do it themselves.
There are many ways to survive without eating meat, and for the amount of meat you'd get of Fluffy it's probably not worth it anyway.
By the way, this is a cultural thing anyway. In China they take care of stray dogs by eating them. Sadly in America there are still 3 slaughterhouses that turn Barbaro, Flicka, and Black Beauty into burgers so that the French and Belgians can have "gourmet" foods. Thank goodness they're voting on banning horse slaughter this year! (HR 503 Horse Slaughter Prevention Act)

No, and I have truly starved.....I'm sure I could go look for other means of food other than my pet...then I would feed my dog what I found. In fact, after the second week of not eating, you aren't even hungry anymore. It isn't until your body starts feeding on itself that you get hungry again. I don't fear hunger and I wouldn't eat another person either. There were some in the Donner party that didn't eat each other....

in my country some tribes eat dogs or cats. I personally wouldn't eat my dog, better off becoming vegeterian. It's not becoz i consider a dog as family member (a pet is a pet, not a family member), but becoz I don't like to hurt dogs. Oh, if it was a cat, I would. I don't really like cats...

I don't have any pets, so I guess I would just starve. There are a few stray cats in my neighborhood I could try to catch though. Now I'm getting hungry...

People will eat anything if they're hungry enough, including each other. It's happened many times in history, and will probably happen many more times as well.
Whoever says no to this only does so because they have no idea what it is like to be truely starving.

I would'nt eat my pet dog or cat, been eating two legged most times ie. birds, chicken and would probably eat you (two legged too) if I am starving.

Chances are, if you were starving, so would your "pets" be starving too, and don't you think that maybe YOU would start looking like a good meal to them too??? It's called the Survival of the Fittest.....!!

I'm American, but I agree with you. In the end they are all just meat. If they don't want to eat it, fine. I don't like how people are disrespectful of that fact. I know I wouldn't eat dog. Personally I think it's disgusting to do that, but I won't shun others who do if it's their customs.

Hell, some people have actually eaten friends and family members when they were starving (the Donner party for example). You can never be completely sure how you will behave under extreme circumstances. Right now I would never think of eating my dog, but .................

he're my answer-- if i was starving, wouldnt he be starving too? before i ate my dog, i would eat his food. totally. i dont think i would see myself killing him, but if he died... yea, then i would totally eat that foo.
i'm so glad i dont have a dog. i'm so glad i'm not starving.
