Volare
Dean Martin

Volare, oh oh
Cantare, oh oh oh oh
Let's fly way up to the clouds
Away from the maddening crowds
We can sing in the glow of a star that I know of
Where lovers enjoy peace of mind
Let us leave the confusion and all disillusion behind
Just like bird of a feather, a rainbow together we'll find

Volare, oh oh
E contare, oh oh oh oh
No wonder my happy heart sings
Your love has given me wings

Mentre il mondo pian piano spariva lontano laggiu
Una musica dolce suonava soltanto per me

Volare, oh oh
E cantare, oh oh oh oh
No wonder my happy heart sings
Your love has given me wings
Nel blu, dipinto di blu
Felice di stare lassu

I guess, I'd say it means something like this. He had so many expectations, but someone interfered and he has nothing he thought he would. Basically that your future is never solid, anyone or anything can change it. Does that sound right?

This will be a rough translation but hear goes.....
Fly and sing...
I think this is a dream that you'll never return
I painted the hands and face blue (?)
and begin to fly in the endless sky
Fly and sing...
In blue, Painting of blue
Happy to be ...(lassu??)
And I flew, flew most happily closer to the sun and closer still
While the world disappeared far away
a sweet music played only for me
fly and sing fly and sing....

( best I can do a little rusty on my Italian.)
(but thanks for the challenge hope it's gets you closer)
