At 16 not at all. Ignore that MTV media bullcrap, most of the western mainstream media does NOT represent reality in the LEAST--in fact they are little more than propaganda for those who would rather destroy our culture. You are perfectly fine and its okay to not date until you are absolutely ready for it.

I dated maybe twice in high school. It wasn't until I was a sophomore in college when I had my first real relationship.
Most of the things in the media are horribly inaccurately portrayed. Anything on MTV is just crap, as well as the movies. Stick with scientific studies you find in newspapers or even on the web--they're usually a but more accurate than the garbage on TV.

I worked with a fairly large group of 17-yr.-olds Americans recently, and not all of them had started dating. Sure, most had. But not all, and there are no time constraints here. You should start dating when you are comfortable with it and when you find someone you'd like to date! (Presuming dating is permissable for you.) Good luck, and don't worry too much. Everyone starts dating at different times. :)

Dating ought to come as something natural, so don't force it. The fact that you haven't dated so far is just because you haven't met someone that you feel closer to or has intrigued your interest yet. Be patient and only you will know when the time is right.

well.. the more you can stay away from this crap...... its good for you.
a human has two counterparts one is pure brain (good part) the other is driven by all your negativities(sex, anger, greed, affection, ego) where sex is the leader of the group.
the ultimatum of any relationship between a gal and a guy is sex(other than mom n sis and a couple true friends)
the more you have control over them, the smarter you are and the more clear picture and thus, more control you have over your life.

of course not. movies and TV have never portrayed real life accurately. and it's caused social problems in countries where these things are prevalent. it tends to confuse kids; them wondering if they are weird because they don't live up to the standards portayed on TV.
