I am afraid that he will come across a poisonous snake one of these days and lose the battle. He is a Sheba Enu.

I'd be very surprised because animals are hunters by nature. Dogs will chase anything that will catch their attention. If you don't live in the country, I wouldn't worry about it too much. There just aren't that many out and around in the city.

If it makes you feel better, we had a cat years ago who suddenly was behaving strangely. Finding nothing else wrong with him, we decided he must have come across a snake and been bitten. The upside --------- he lived!! His behavior was VERY noticeably different within just minutes, not more than 1/2 hour. He sure seemed like he wasn't going to make it, especially because he was already old, but a couple of days later he was fine and up and eating again.

Aside from keeping him in the house or chained in the yard so he can't wander seeking them (something I don't personally advocate), I'd just let him be a dog, and you just keep a watch out for his behavior. He'll let you know when he feels bad. You'll just have to be the one to speak doggy behavior!

Good luck to you!

First of all, I can't believe anyone would out and out say they hit and kick their dogs and let them kill their own rabbits and chickens (presumably pet rabbits). Are you for real? I agree with the person who said you have no business owning a pet of any kind! Hitting and kicking an animal is abuse!!! Knowingly letting any animal kill another animal is borderline psychotic. I hope you don't have children. Do yourself and your animals a favor and find new homes for them. This is not something you can "stop" without re-homing all your animals to different locations. It's imperative you let the new owners know the history of these dogs, too. I understand this q & a is "a community of people with diverse beliefs" and some of you may find my post offensive but it's not even close to being as offensive as deliberately harming an animal to try to change it's behavior or continuing to let one animal kill another.
