Religion is poison. By the way, I'm drunk right now and sorry I cannot answer your question. PARADOX!

Oops, they probably had something like culture, that someone saw one day they could profit from it, and renamed it religion.

from what most anthroplogists agree nowadays, they had a sense of spirituality... that is almost a given with any creature having the mental ability to wonder what exactly happened last night, when old grock went to sleep alive and now he is dead.

but they did almost certainly not have the infrastructure to form a religion... by which i mean, they were pretty busy staying alive... and the ones that actually had time to sit and think didnt have a very good language to tell the others about it. and those where only his own tribe, or clan, or whatever kind of groupings they had. there was most likely very little interaction with other groups, especially not in the way of philosphical discourse...

so my answer is this: although they probably had the mental ability to do so, i find it unlikely that they did.

If you believe the Bible account.God created man and woman. They were created perfect and designed to live forever. There is no mention of God creating Neanderthals or any sort of cave man that evolved from a ape.
Worship of God would have started in the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve until they rebelled and disobeyed God and were thrown out of the garden.
The next faithfull worshiper of God mentioned in the Bible was Enoch. At Gen.5:22 it speaks of Enoch "walking with the true God".So worship of Jehovah God stemmed right back to the beginning of mans creation.

Yes, Neanderthals were stupid enough to buy into the lie of religion. The first sign a species is becoming sentient is when they have evolved to the point where they can abstract enough to invent a god. The first sign a species is achieving sentient maturity is when they get rid of their gods.

Skull measurements show that Neanderthals had a larger brain than modern man, so they probably did not. Maybe the smaller-brained Homo sapiens wiped them out inspired by their newly-invented religion. That's pretty much the way things have worked since.

If I remember correctly, Neanderthals were the first to bury their dead and invent "art". If my recollection on that is correct, then I'm fairly certain they had some sort of rudimentary religion.

well, i think they might of had a relationship with God. I believe religions existed much later on when civilization came about.

Are you living in a cave still ?

Latest findings established that , there is a part in human brain, whose function is thoughts of god , doctors has named it GOD-SPOT we all were religious minded. Dont let DARWIN fool you, we were never monkeys nor we evolved from any other type of life form. We were humans from day one on this planet. Adam the first man was a black man like me.
